REV Cable Bahamas preventing customers from using their own modems! They are abusing a dominant position! Cable companies must let customers use their own equipment (including modems) unless it isn’t compatible with the network or unless it would cause some kind of harm or be designed to let customers obtain services they didn't pay for. But if you’re a customer of a company that simply refuses to let you use a third-party modem is not acceptable!
I have brand new modern ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem that I like to use instead of the Arris CM820 DOCSIS 3.0 supplied by REV Cable Bahamas LTD. But the cable company won't allow it, despite offering no proof that it would harm the network or is incompatible. The Surfboard is a DOCSIS 3.1 device certified by CableLabs, the cable industry's equipment testing body by the way! The ARRIS is the modem I want to use is the same brand Rev is using himself! Also Cable Bahamas offer the option to buy a Modem from them. The reason why I decided to buy my own modem is to stop paying the fee every month for the rental and to have a much better and stable speed! Cable declines to answer questions regarding why they can’t and why they said my modem is not compatible with them when my modem is detecting the connection from cable Bahamas. They just refuse to activate my modem by bad fate! I spoke to a supervisor from REV Miss Anastacia Peneby and she could not give me a real reason why they could not activate my modem. The only reason they could give me is I didn’t bought the modem from them! They have any proof than my modem is not compatible with the network! My modem is already detected by REV Cable Bahamas! This madness needs to stop right now! This is illegal what they are doing! This need to be fixed!
